Had Cashew Chicken and Sweet sour soup, both were excellent. This time we are having Sesame Chicken and Ginger Chicken. Again I had Sweet and Sour Soup, and it's ohhh so good. I think this will be my go-to restaurant for future Sweet and Sour Soup for the cold weather which I'm still getting used to after moving here from OC a month ago. Sesame Chicken was good with big chunks of dark meat. Fried batter is just right, light and crunchy. This dish is similar to Orange Chicken, which is a very bad idea for carry-out. NOT to eat this dish immediately after it comes out of wok, would be like chewing on mystery meat, and the sauce will be lumpy. Any flavor would have been soaked up by the starch-based sauce after being jam-packed into the take-out box. Conclusion, fried-dishes like Orange, Sesame, Sweet Sour chicken/pork, do not get it delivered or take-out. They taste much better fresh off the wok. On to the Ginger Chicken, which is full of flavor. Personally, I'd ask for easy sauce on this dish. The chef here is a bit heavy handed on the sauce, which is typical of southern Chinese style. Personal preference aside, Ginger Chicken is full of flavor with large slices of chicken. So today I stayed home and decided we want lunch special from Hunan. I got a new item, Beef Broccoli. I was pretty impressed by the beef slices, tender and flavorful. Most chinese restaurants' beef dishes require full set of healthy teeth and strong jaws. The beef I had today in the lunch special was tender, as good as the ones in San Francisco. Father in law had Egg Fuyong, I didn't ask him how it was, but that seems to be the it item for him when he goes to Hunan. But I won't trust him completely as his Chinese food repertoire begins and ends at Egg Fuyong and Mu Shu Chicken; he just won't try anything else. New favorite: Ham and pineapple fried rice.

I went here a lot with my family five years ago when I lived in the Chicago suburbs. We mostly came for the buffet. Though the items on the buffet were pretty standard (Orange/sesame chicken, fried rice with some meat supplement, chow mien, egg rolls, etc.), they were still well cooked. My parents and I enjoyed having some hot tea while grabbing some buffet items. The food isn't going to blow your mind, but you shouldn't miss out on the experience either. It's family run and the servers are very friendly.

Good stuff the second time we had it. Not sure why the first shot was not too good. But this time everything was delicious.

I'm always weary of new Chinese places, and this place is exactly why. The sweet and sour shrimp was too crunchy and too much breaking. The actual shrimp was hard to bite and chew. The crab Rangoon barely had any filling, which was heavy on the onion flavor. Instead of being lazy and ordering in, next time I'll just order from my favorite place and go pick it up since there's no delivery.

Thought I would step away from my usual place (QQ China) and try this out bc of the reviews. Big mistake. The vegetable fried rice was the only good thing I ordered. The crab Rangoon were stale and had hardly any bland filling, Shiny noodles had no flavor and the shrimp had an odd powdery texture. Egg rolls were average at best. Not sure if all the great reviews are just for dine in and bc I carried out it affected the taste but most of the food ended up in the trash. My main stay QQ has the best king crab Rangoon I have ever had and they never get delivered cold and hard like they were here. I ended up paying more for inferior quality food. My mistake and it won't happen again.

Decent but use to be great. The buffet is a hit or miss thing. .. Sometimes it is fresh sometimes it is not. The best thing to do is order off the lunch menu at lunch time. Then its freshly made. There is not alot of meat in their dishes with that said you do get alot of vegetables. Extra gravy is extra money. The family that owns it is nice. It doesn't seem that crowded anymore it use to be. Great crab Rangoon though. Interior of restaurant needs some remodeling to bring it current. Needs a little excitement in the restaurant staff never looks like they love their business. ate there last week and everything was really fresh..

This is some of the best Chinese food in the area. Eating in is nice but we do a lot of carry out. They have some pretty good lunch specials that come with an entree, fried rice, a crab ragoon, one egg roll and a fortune cookie. A decent price at about $6. For dinner I like the orange chicken but there are a lot of very delicious exotic items on the menu. Stop on by and have some yummy Chinese treats!

We always order from Hunan Inn while visiting family in Palos Park. Large portions, good food and fast pick up make this a great place for Chinese in the south 'burbs. Try the Empress chicken and the veggie lo mein; yum!

FINALLY! We moved to the southwest suburbs about a little over a year ago and I have tried just about everyone of them within a 15 mile radius. (Maybe in exaggerating, but you get the point) I tried A LOT of Chinese places in this area and this one is by far THE BEST. So much flavor in all of their dishes! The food is delicious without weighing you down. We had the string beans with mixed pork, chicken with snow peas, Mongolian beef, fried fish,Hunan rice and beef fried rice. To be completely honest the fried rice was lacking a bit. I don't particularly like peas in my fried rice. Actually I don't like peas at all. Also, there weren't any green onions in the fried rice which I also was a little disappointed to discover. The egg rolls weren't anything special either. BUT the chicken and now peas..... Amazing. Great flavor, great texture. The chicken was tender and juicy with the perfect amount of sauce and the snow peas still had a crunch to them! The Mongolian beef was also very good. Had a slight sweet flavor to it but I didn't mind. The fried fish was GREAT. I asked for no sauce on it because the order on the menu says its fried and then some sort of sweet red sauce comes on it but we didn't want that. The fish was crunchy and even without the sauce u can tell they either marinated it or had some amazing batter they dipped it in. Idk. But it was good and plenty of flavor even without the sauce. The string beans were string beans. I'm just really happy u found this place. The menu say there is a buffet during the week so me and my family will def have to try that out. The place is quiet and fairly large. Looks like you can easily take a large group and be comfortable. I like that some of the tables have a lazy suzan. The people working there are very nice and accommodating.

Place definitely has that old store front restaurant vibe. Kinda felt like I was in the Chinese restaurant on a Christmas story, mostly because it was pretty small and we were the only ones in there. Anyways the food was decent, I liked the chicken chow fun, fried rice, pot stickers, cashew chicken. Some of the meat was a little chewy though. I wouldn't mind eating here again sometime, but I wouldn't really go out of my way to do so.

What a find - everything is homemade and you can tell. The Sui Mai were huge and offered multiple sauces, the portions plentiful and the shrimp were big and yummy -- max stars for a small village hidden gem. Decor average but don't let that stop you

I may be jumping the gun with a 4-star review, because I've only had two dishes from this restaurant (take-out)....but they're both so consistently good every time that I can't break away and order something else. I always order the Szechuan Green Beans with Pork and Chicken Fried Rice. The place is clean and the people who work there are very friendly and accommodating. Next time my friends and I go out for Chinese, I'm going to suggest we go here, and I will definitely try something else on the menu. And judging from the majority of the other reviews here, I don't think I'll be disappointed.

My husband and I are definitely fans of Hunan Inn. The quick and friendly managers and service are a plus. But the food is what we all care about when ordering Chinese. We call to order take out and have been impressed twice now. The Lo Mein dishes are by far the best in the area. We have disappointed by SO many Chinese places and once we found Hunan Inn we are pretty sure we won't be ordering from anywhere else. Like I said, the Lo Mein noodles are the perfect flavor and consistency. Other favorite items: egg rolls, crab rangoon, fried rice (house special), Cantonese spare ribs, sesame chicken. all amazing. My husband tried the hunan shrimp once and it was not his favorite. But otherwise everything else we have tried we have really liked. Even writing this review makes me think I might order it for dinner ! The prices are also completely reasonable and affordable, check them out!

one thing i really appreciate is when a chinese place has good chicken. if you start with good chicken, you are on the right track. too many chinese places i've been to use this creepy chicken that is either too rubbery or too slimy or too gristly. yuck. this place has good white meat chicken. YAY! tasty food!!! :o)

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
